We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, and that it is composed of historical fact, as well as allegory and parables – all inspired by God to teach and to guide us. We believe that some of the cultural customs that were evident in the Bible are no longer relevant in the modern era. Specifically that of homosexuality. Although Leviticus 18 is commonly used by more conservative Christians to preach against LGBTQ+ people, we do not accept that the Jewish Holiness Code applies to non-Jewish Christians. Besides, Jesus’ arrival fulfilled Jewish Law, making it of no affect anyway.
Jesus Himself, only gave us two commandments:
Matthew 22: 37-40 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.“
In short, If He didn’t condemn LGBTQ+ people, then we shouldn’t either. Additionally, Jesus’s ministry was about inclusion – not separation, love – not hate.
We believe that All have access to Jesus’ free Gift of Salvation, made possible by His death, burial and resurrection.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
We believe that LGBTQ+ people were made by God to be exactly who they are – God doesn’t make mistakes. A further point, we do NOT believe that because you are LGBTQ+ that you are relegated to a life of chastity, on the contrary, you have the same right to find love and happiness that anyone else has.
Therefore, we believe that All are welcome regardless of sex, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.
We are proudly Welcoming and Affirming!
